"And Your Petitioner Will Ever Pray" (1789-1794)
Records of the Mecklenburg / Midland District Land Board, comprising the minutes of the Board meetings, in both Kingston and Adolphustown. These contain summaries of each of the petitions presented & the action taken, and the reports of the Land Council on those proceedings. Also included is the 1790 location registers for the district, giving lot and concession numbers for each settler.

"From Settler to Land Owner" (1797-1803)
Records of the first Heir and Devisee Commission of the Midland District. These Commissions were set up to determine the ownership of lands in Upper Canada for the purpose of issuing the first deeds. The papers of the Commissions contain tickets of location, transfers & any other evidence useful to prove ownership, judge's minute books, etc. These constitute a record of the settlers before the patent (or first deed) was issued, and before the first entry in the abstract deed books.
